Anglo-Saxonand beowulf
The story was ok i really dont like stories like this one. I read this story at my old school but it was a lot diffrent then this one umm the only the thing that stuck out to me was the fact that all the men tried to kill grendel and no one could. Then here comes beowulf and he kills him like it was no problem at all thats crazy to me.
I was going to talk a little bit about the spirit of the celts. Greek travelers found an island ruld by warries who called themselfs celts the Greeks adopted the land. the celts found spirits in the world the priests called druids acted between gods and the people.
The Anglo-Saxon sweep ashore in fifth century invaders from germany to the britain eventually settled the greater part become known as england meaning "land of the angles." new comers have it hard welsh chieftain called arthur, who developed in legend as britains "once and future king"
unifying force Anglo-Saxon england was divided into a number of small kingdoms viking people crossed the north sea in th eight and ninth centuries and settled in parts of england.
2. A) They believed that the only way your name was remember was if you were a hero
a)when he killed grendel
B) That gods ruled everything from thunder and lighting to people
b) the way they came up with the names of the days of the week
3. So many people tried to kill grendel for so long then beowulf made it look so easy ( That was bad enough, but the following nightGrendel killed more--blinded by sin, he felt no remorse.(You can bet the survivorsstarted sleeping elsewhere.)So Grendel ruled, fighting right, one against many, and the greatest hallin all the earthstood empty at night.) then you got this part ( have heard say that on that morning warriors came from near and farto look at the wonder.Grendel's death made no warrior sad.)
4. I think beowulf dies at the end of the story the way he would have wanted to. Fighting foe his people only if his sword had not broken he would have wonthis battle as well. i think that he was a little to sure that he was going to win this battle so he was not thinking he had to be as aware as he should have been.
I also think that his so called army should not have left him the way they did. He only had one that did what he always told him he would. stayed and let him know how much he thought of him as a leader and friend.
